The Golf Club - Basic Information Every Golfer Should Know!

The basic equipment and a sound knowledge of that equipment is need by every new golf player. Getting all the information and knowledge about the game and rules involved in it makes the game and environment more interesting. By knowing all the essential things about the game, you might become a good player.

The thing which is to be learnt in the beginning is about the golf club, and then a player will understand how the ball swings and how the is game affected by each and every part of golf club. For new players who need information on golf clubs here are some vital information about the clubs.

Set of standard clubs: Golf is a game in which a ball is hit with the help of a long stick called a club. Golf clubs involves three of the components i.e. shaft, grip and the head. Club makers a standard piece of rules and they cannot alter the design or cannot change it completely how so ever that increases efficiency as compared to the other. But what they can do is to introduce new technology and that technology is used by all club makers and that is improving a lot day by day.

The clubs are created to allow players to struck the ball at longer distance and in a straight line. Set of clubs that are standard include 3 wood clubs, a putter and 8 clubs made of iron that makes a total of 12 clubs. A player is allowed to take up to fourteen clubs , so extra putter can be carried always that is made either of wood or iron.

Wooden club: A wooden club is often used to strike the ball at longer distances .the of the tee is usually used for many holes. also when a player is over 175 yards that is quiet away from the given hole that is green. the club driver is pretty well known as the one wood. With this type of stick you can strike the ball at longer distance. a player generally carries three or five woods as in the set in which clubs are placed. All of these clubs are used to hit balls at longer distances on the field .out of the 14 limit of the clubs a player can carry greater number of woods as a part of utility wood.

Wedges and iron : The clubs made up of iron are used for shorter distances usually till 200 yards or less. It depends on the player the closer he/she is to the pole the more often the player uses the iron club. Out of the 8 clubs made of iron a player is likely to use a range of 3 to 9 clubs of iron. a pitching wedge is also available for shots for short range. another name for specialty club of iron is wedge. A sand wedge is also available to get a player out of tricky shots e.g when ball goes into sand pit.

5 Basic Steps To The Perfect Golf Grip

5 Basic Steps To The Perfect Golf Grip

A few things factor into a good golf shot and amongst them are your grip, posture and swing. While all these things come into play, some consider the golf grip the most important one of all. If you don't have a good golf grip, you can forget about your swing because no matter how hard you try to train or fix it, it will still be broken until you nail the perfect grip.

To get the perfect golf grip just, follow the 5 simple steps listed below:

1. With the golf head down, grip using only the last three fingers and the pad of your left hand. Grasp with your left hand and adjust the club so the grip is in your fingers, not your palm.

2. Make sure your left hand's thumb is straight down. The point where your thumb meets your hand should be near the top of club.

3. Next, grip with the fingers of your right hand. Note the small vertical crease in your right palm near the wrist. Overlap the creases of your hands.

4. Grab the pinky of your right hand with the index finger of your left. Note the index finger and thumb of right hand. You should see a 'V' where they meet. That vertex (the point where they meet) should point to your right shoulder.

5. Make sure your right thumb is not running straight down the club but instead is pointed slightly toward your right shoulder.

If you follow these instructions, you should be able to obtain a solid golf grip. The following golf tips will also help you improve your grip and help you feel more comfortable and confident with it.

The best way to double-check whether your golf grip is correct is to look at the amount of knuckles you can see on your left hand. If you can see three of them, it means that you're in good shape. 2 or 4 means that your club's face is either too open or too closed.

An important golf tip to remember is that your grip needs to be firm yet relaxed. Holding the club lightly but firmly is what you should do. Don't try to choke it because tenseness in your golf grip will lead to a poor swing. Remember, the more relaxed your grip, the straighter and farther you'll hit the ball.

There is a golf tip to avoid gripping too tightly. Extend your target arm and hold the club at an angle in front of you with the heel pad of your left hand on top of the handle. This puts the club across the top joints of the fingers (where the fingers meet the hand). The heel pad supports and traps the club. Hopefully relieving you of the need to hold it in a death grip.

A common error golfers have is a weak lead-hand grip (left hand for the right-handed golfer). A weak lead-hand tends to produce slices and your shots will lack power. So take note of this golf tip if you have slicing problems.

Practicing your golf grip isn't crucial but it can help in the long run. If you know your grip by heart, you'll settle into it easily without much thought. For golf, the less you need to think about and the more natural your grip and swing feels, the better the shot.

Understanding The Basic Rules Of Golf

Understanding The Basic Rules Of Golf

There are many people who embark on playing golf but do not really try to understand the rules or the golfing terms used. It's good to at least understand the basic rules before a game of golf.

Golf is played by striking a ball using a club on an area called "teeing ground." Once the ball is hit, it typically travels fairways across and onto a next prepared area. A hole could be found in this area that is called a "putting green."

The objective of the game of golf is that one should be able to complete a hole by means of hitting a ball from a teeing ground and place it inside the hole of the putting green in as few strokes as possible. What is usually referred to as a round of golf generally consists of 18 holes to be played in.

In golf, there are mainly two kinds of play to pick from. The winner in one kind of play is determined by the holes that are lost and won, this is referred to as a match play.

The other kind of play is determined by the number of strokes one has taken to complete a round. This is called a stroke play.

When playing golf, there are two relevant rules to remember: as you find the course, go play it. As the ball lies, it should also be played as such.

If you find it hard to follow the above rule, at least try your very best to do what is reasonable. How do you know what is fair? Below are the summarized rules to give you a good idea of how to play a good game of golf.

The Intro: Basic golf courtesy

1. Avoid moving, chatting or standing too close to a golfer who is about to make a stroke.

2. Play with a minimum amount of delay. As quickly as the players in the group that you are in have left, it is just as best that you do the same. Try your best not to play until the group is already out of the way.

3. As much as possible, try to replace the divots. Also, remember to smooth any footprints found in the bunkers.

4. It is greatly inadvisable to drop your clubs on the putting green, so don't!

The Rules of Playing

1. Before playing that all important round of golf, the first thing you should do is to read the local rules stated on the score card you are holding.

2. After which do not forget to place an identifying mark on the ball you are going to use. Some golfers use the same type and brand of golf ball, if in case your ball is placed among these bunch, you will have difficulty finding which is which.

3. Make sure that you get to count your clubs before actual play. You should have a maximum of fourteen clubs.

4. When beginning actual play, it is best that you tee off in front of the tee markers.

When you tee outside this specified area and you are playing a match play, your opponent may have to ask you to repeat the stroke you just did. The good thing when one does this in a match play, you get to incur no penalty. However, if in a stroke play, you then are given a penalty of two-stroke.

5. If while you are playing and your golf ball happens to lie in a bunker or a water hazard, you should not in any way touch the ground of the bunker or the water before you do your down swing.

6. The ball must as much as possible be struck fairly and should neither be spooned or pushed.

7. It is alright for you to mark the ball that you are using. You could take your ball, clean it and place it on the exact place where it was.

8. When dropping a ball, it is best that you stand upright and then hold the ball at the length of your shoulder, and then you may drop it. If by dropping the ball it happens to strike your partner, you or your caddie, the ball must then be dropped again with no penalty.

9. It is also fine for you to lift your ball if by doing so you are able to assist another player. Or you also may lift any other ball as long as that ball interferes with your playing or interferes another player.

Six Basic Principles of Golf Swing Mechanics

Six Basic Principles of Golf Swing Mechanics

Almost golfers suffer from not being able to hit either their drivers or irons correctly at all, causing slices and other problems with their swing. Some have a tendency to blame such as : the slope, the weather , too much overtime affecting their game, or that theyre just warming up. One thing that golfers disregard is the fact that basic motions are always the best way to go.

Golfers everywhere try to replicate the "perfect" golf swing to improve their game in leaps and bounds, making shots easy and very professional. However, one thing to pay attention that there is no such thing as the perfect golf swing as there is only a perfect golf swing for every player. As our bodies were made differently, so should our mentality in swinging a golf club. By adhering to basic principles and practicing everyday, anyone can get perfection and hit the ball onto the green every single time.

Here are six basic principles that can help you get the mechanics of your golf swing properly.

1. Alignment is vital in hitting your target square. The primary concept behind a suitable golf swing is hitting the ball dead center, which means that alignment is very important basic in a proper golf swing.

2. Always keep your eyes at what you are trying to hit. This has got to be the most ignored rule as it seems so simple. However, this definitely is the very significant rule to keep in mind as you have to see what you are supposed to hit in the first place the actually hit. This is all about common sense, so do it.

3. Make sure that you have a comfortable stance that will let you turn your body in the most effortless way possible. Think of your spine as an axis and find your center of gravity by pushing your backside out. Once you achieve that comfortable stance, then you should have less problems.

4. Be patient and keep your mind focused on your goal. Do this by thinking smoothly and having your feet planted firmly on the ground. This is not about what happens next or what you did in the past. This is about the present, and you should always focus on what is now to achieve anything significant in the future. This way, you can get proper rhythm in your golf swing.

5. Humming a rhythm can help you keep your mind away from the golf swing and more on hitting the ball. These two things sound similar, but there is a fundamental difference. Thinking about the golf swing is a complication as it is more about technical aspects of the game, while hitting the ball is just the basic concept that the game is about.

6. A good way of thinking is "sweep" for woods and "pinch" for irons. This may sound strange, but it can help you with your game as these are how clubs are designed. An iron is supposed to pinch the ball off the ground, while a driver is supposed to sweep it off the tee.

Keeping things simple is the method to go as it helps you focus on the details that really matter without making you panic when you do commit a mistake. Fear and lack of self confidence are the enemies of a golfer.

9 Basic Golf Rules For Beginners

Elementary rules of golf are not that hard to master, but they may seem out of reach if the game is completely new to you. Unlike other sports, golf does have some unsaid rules that, with their absence may not disqualify you, but practicing them makes you at ease on the course and with other players as well. The most basic rules concern themselves with behavior and conduct, and also with taking care of the course. This article will help any player feel more comfortable on the course, be it a player who needs to remind himself of these basic rules, or may be a player completely new to the game as well.

1. One round of the game consists of 18 holes that you need to finish within four hours

2. You are permitted to carry up to fourteen golf clubs in your kit bag. Carrying more may result in penalty.

3. Basic golf manners require that you allow the person before you to make a hit. You need to keep this in mind throughout the game all over the course. The player who is allowed to make the first hit is he who scored lowest on the previous hole.

4. Safety is always important. Before making your swing, make sure no one is standing right beside you, or in the area you are aiming at. A golf ball is very hard and could cause serious injury.

If you are a beginner to the game you need to be aware that you need to stay brisk and attentive on the course. You need to do your best to avoid slow play, which is a violation of the rules. Try these tips

5. Before you begin the round, make sure you have all the required equipment in your golf bag. You will not have time to return for another club during play.

6. Do not try and practice on the course itself. The practice area is meant for this, or you could practice elsewhere.

7. Do not waste more than a few minutes looking for a mishit ball, its just not worth the time.

8. Do keep track of the pace of the golf players before and after you. If the group behind you is much faster than you, you could save them some frustration by letting them get ahead.

9. After you have done your putting, move out of the green immediately. This is not the area where you should hang around and look up the scores.

Following some of these basic rules and etiquettes will not only improve your game, but will avoid frustrations. After all, you do need to feel welcome on a golf course, and not a pain in the wrong place.

2 Basic Steps to Improving Your Golf Swing

2 Basic Steps to Improving Your Golf Swing

The game of golf is truly an individual sport. The basics are the same for everyone; however, due to the differences in peoples body types no two people will ever have the same golf swing. Each person will have to adapt their bodies to perform a proper golf swing in their own way. Taking the time to develop your own method of playing golf will greatly improve your enjoyment and success at the game. Practicing the basic fundamentals of the game until they are ingrained in your muscles will lead to confidence on the course, and that confidence will lead to success and enjoyment of the game.

One of the most basic steps that you can put into action and see an immediate improvement to your golf swing is to keep your head still and look straight at the ball. The position of your head should be straight in line with your spine, and your nose should be raised up a bit so that when you start to swing, your left shoulder fits under your chin. Many players tuck their heads into their chests to try and keep their heads still and look straight down at the golf ball. Unfortunately, they cannot perform a proper golf swing while in this position.

If you are one of the many that are having difficulty keeping your head straight and an eye on the ball try the following. The next time you approach the ball, assume the correct stance with your feet and knees in position but keep your head and back straight, bend forward slightly at the waist and look straight at the ball. If you try and take a swing in this position, your left shoulder will most likely hit your chin. While keeping your eyes on the ball, raise your head slowly until your left shoulder does not hit your chin. Make sure that your head does not move from side to side by keeping your eyes fixed on the ball. Slowly go through the backswing and downswing portions of your golf swing. Do not hit the ball and do the follow through. Practice this portion of your golf swing focusing on keeping your head straight and eyes on the ball.

Practice this exercise in your backyard for about 25 times in a row and then take a break and relax a bit, then start again. Make minor corrections to your head and body position as needed to keep your eyes straight on the ball and your left shoulder from hitting your chin. This exercise will "train" your body, and your muscles will "remember" the correct position you need to be in to perform the movement correctly. Think about any sports athlete, they train and train to place their bodies in the correct stance and position to properly execute the movements necessary to be successful in their particular sport. You are doing the same thing by "training" your body to keep your head straight and position itself so that you can successfully execute a proper golf swing.

Another basic step that can work greatly towards improving your golf swing is to relax. I know it is easier said then done, especially when you are getting ready to put all your power into drive with an audience of either your co-workers, or better still your friends who will not let you forget it if you mess up. However, relaxing your muscles will help you to maintain the proper balance that is important to a great golf swing. Regardless of the golf clubs you use, your balance is the primary foundation of your golf swing, and the way to achieve good balance is to practice. A good way to practice improving your balance is to assume the address position with your club, relax your body and try holding it there for about 30 seconds. Does it feel like you have more weight on one foot or the other? Is one part of your body more tense then another?

Keeping your head straight and maintaining good balance are just two basic parts of a great golf swing. The exercises given above are just two ways that you can start training now to improve your golf swing. You can work on either one separately, or combine them together into one exercise. Improving your golf swing begins and ends with you. Training the muscles of your body to properly perform specific movements takes time and practice. The effort spent improving your golf swing will pay off on the course. Through exercise and practice, you will be able to slip into the proper address position and perform an effortless, powerful golf swing and feel just as if you were sliding your hand into a warm soft glove.

A Basic Explanation On the Basic Golf Swing By Nguang Nguek Fluek!

A Basic Explanation On the Basic Golf Swing By Nguang Nguek Fluek!

If you have ever been on the golf course or a driving range and have tried to use all your strength in the basic golf swing so that you can hit the ball as far as possible, then you already understand that this technique does not work very well. In fact, you were probably lucky if you hit the ball and if you did manage to make contact with the ball it probably went no where near the direction you wanted it to go.

One of the reasons that your ball didn't go in the right direction and/or maybe it didn't even go as far as you thought it would go is because even though it does take strong conditioned muscles to hit the ball a great distance, it doesn't mean that hitting the ball with all your might is the best approach.

Hitting the ball with the basic golf swing is more physics than strength.

For example, if you look at a bag of clubs you will notice that each club is designed differently. Each club is designed to do a certain job at a certain distance so choosing the right club will also help with the basic golf swing.

Once you are able to pick out the proper club and be able to control that club then and only then can you begin to work on power. You should also know that power does not always mean strength. You don't have to be a body builder to make long tee shots but you do need to condition you golfing muscles.

Also you need to know how to position your body for the proper basic golf swing so the club will connect with the ball at the correct angle to get the most out of the club and the swing.

Practice, practice, and more practice will be the only way for you to learn the basic golf swing. Unfortunately, there is no magical dust that you can sprinkle over yourself or your clubs to give you the basic golf swing. The best way to learn is to have someone whether its and instructor or a friend, but have them show you the basic golf swing and then practice that swing over and over until you can do it without even thinking about it.

There is some golf stretching exercises that have been known to be somewhat effective is stretching out and conditioning the proper muscles that a golfer uses and with the proper conditioning it will help with the movements to the basic golf swing.

Like everything else, it takes patience and practice to perfect even the most basic of swings in the game of golf. Try to be consistent in your swing and you will see that improvement comes very quickly from there. Do not be controlled by temper or negative emotions when unable to perform a basic swing. Always cool down and remain calm. Then simply hold that club firmly in your hands and try again! You'll be a pro sooner than you know!

Golf Driving Range, basic principles

Golf Driving Range, basic principles

It needs great courage for a person to turn the sport he loves into a way to make a living. Still, you can parlay your affinity for the sport into owning and operating a golf range--and you can succeed if you follow some basic principles.

Step 1

First decide whether you plan to build your driving range from the ground up or would rather buy an existing one. Your decision will be based on the amount of money you have or your power to raise it, because starting from scratch requires a lot of money and time.

Step 2

Do market research to determine all you can about your potential customers and their expectations. Also, learn about your competitors, what they charge and what it will take to wean their customers away from them. If you intend to build your business from scratch, you will need help, possibly from a professional, to comply with all the zoning requirements in your county. Finally, keep the neighbors abreast of your plans because it's good business and they represent a ready market for you.

Step 3

Create a vision for the business. At some driving ranges, food is offered to patrons and it can be very profitable. Some sell golf clothing and equipment, like golf drivers and accessories, while others make a lot of money giving golf lessons. Whatever direction you decide for your business, you will need to make an adequate investment for it to be successful.

Step 4

Establish your pricing and determine the hours that you will be open for business. Pricing will be a function of what your competition charges, and the hours you'll be open will be based on the customer's wishes and expectations. And just like most businesses, there will be times when you'll not be busy. Perhaps you can consider lowering your prices at those time to encourage more traffic.
