reaching out and extending in you’re “back swing” is very important.

Thank you so much for posting this video. I am going to practice what you put on here. This is the best video I have seen by far to help on technique.

Thanks for the video. I agree its one of the best out there.

Thank you for the great video. I just started playing again after eleven years and forgot the everything about the throw. I have the worst stalls and found this video. I am so very thankful that someone took the time to make this for all the amature golfer’s that really want to be competitive and just play.

Beato’s videos are by far the best I have found–the others don’t even come close. Thanks again man from Colorado, Anthony.

@joeveenpresents – I have to disagree on the Firebird. That’s a hard disc for beginners. I would stick to the Valk and the Leopard starting out. AND STICK TO THOSE TWO! Don’t run out and buy a bunch of discs. That was a lesson I learned… Use the Teebird for windy days.

You Tube search line: flying plastic the movie. Finally a disc golf movie worth watching.

  14. osw330904 says:

yea my friend nageeb laborde is about 5 ‘6 maybe 130, and he throws 550 plus!

  15. Testament31904 says:

Same with Matt Orum, Kris Orrick, even Coda Hatfield. All Scrawny dudes but they have some loooong bombs due to their extreme speed and snap.

  16. TIKOMIX says:

I agree. Torque and speed is much more important that muscle power. Dave Wiggins seems to be pretty scrawny yet he obtains 600′.

  17. heartlesspinto says:

I meant for a beginner it does. If you don’t have the weight and muscle to throw far naturally, then you’re going to have to work at it. If he’s a beginner, and small, that may explain why he can’t throw far. That’s why i told him he has to get some momentum going. He can’t just stand there and expect the disc to take off by itself.

  18. Testament31904 says:

That’s not entirely true, weight and muscle have little to do with distance. At our local course, there’s 2 kids, 12 & 14 years old who play, both are short and skinny yet both can blast a 350′+ drive at any given time. It’s all about technique. ANYONE can learn to throw far. Practice makes improvements.

  19. ChrisWoj says:

Just replying to myself: I just watched your throw analysis videos. Its clearly just this one throw and not all of your throws.

  20. ChrisWoj says:

Dan – Just a quick comment – on your “what it looks like” you don’t seem to be getting your legs under you. Your rear leg is already coming up when you pull through, which keeps you from getting the power of those legs pushing through.

It could just be that particular thow, but if its a normal thing for you try to really emphasize the push with that back leg to add more D.

Not criticism of the video or your form, you’re a straight bomber and all good tips. Its just something I noticed.

  21. REDARMYMIKE says:

    awesome work dan.

i still can’t translate anything i’ve seen here into tips i can use to help my game (i still max under 325′), but at least i have a good direction to follow.

please keep helping limp noodles like me out by posting more videos.

    cheers.

    Mike
